Like many working parents, I travel frequently for my career.
For a recent trip, due to some logistics with my kids’ and husband’s schedules, we decided to board our dog during my short absence. When I booked my dog’s stay, I was informed that he’d be staying in a 5 star, two-room suite, would have daily play dates with pups of his same temperament and a spa appointment before he arrives home!
The irony was not lost on me that, in contrast, my trip would consist of taking a red-eye, staying in an airport hotel and squeezing in dinner by myself. I would not be whooping it up with friends or having a relaxing spa appointment before I returned home!
Like many working parents, I often struggle to put my own needs first.
But when your dog’s vacation is sounding more appealing than your own, you know it’s time to make a change!
This is why I created Mindful Life’s annual mindfulness retreats. They’re my favorite way to teach mindfulness. I love bringing people together to relax and learn in two of the most spectacular locations. I watch working parents, stay-at-home parents, empty-nesters, executives, teachers, healthcare workers, doctors, counselors all arrive looking harried and spent. They leave, just a few days later, feeling nourished, renewed and ready to go home to integrate a sustainable stress resiliency, self-compassion, and simple mindfulness plan into their day-to-day lives.
The difference between people’s well-being upon arrival and departure, at our retreats, is about as extreme as the difference between my dog’s recent trip away from home and my own!
Which Retreat Should You Pick?
So the question isn’t whether or not you should take some time off for yourself and retreat with us this year, the question is which one do you choose ;)? It’s a difficult choice, I know.
5-star Mindful Life retreat in the mountains or 5-star Mindful Life retreat at the beach???
About both retreats, I can say with conviction:
Both locations (Colorado and Costa Rica) are equally astounding in their natural beauty.
Both provide incredible opportunities to relax, replenish and enjoy the area (aka plenty of downtime).
Both include luxury accommodations (and several yummy meals).
Both create a camaraderie between the participants that is not easy to replicate in everyday life.
Both are led by me and my off-the-charts incredible retreat side-kick (aka my sister, Lisa).
And BOTH retreats are filling up quickly! Details are below…
There are a very limited number of spots available. Since each retreat can only accommodate a maximum of 16 participants, I encourage you to explore the details and reserve your spot soon.
For travel logistics to either retreat, our retreat concierge, Cathryn, will help you with all of your needs. She’s an expert in making sure your trip is as easy as possible (and according to Cathryn, flights to Costa Rica right now are really reasonable with fares under $600 on direct flights from several major U.S. cities!).
Costa Rica’s $500 deposit is fully refundable until May 1, 2017, so if you are interested in joining us for that retreat, but aren’t sure of your November plans, you can reserve your spot and not be penalized for canceling, if you do so before May 1, 2017.
However you choose to replenish and restore yourself in 2017, whether it’s with me at one of these retreats or somewhere else, it’s always my honor and privilege to support you on your journey.
